Inset painted burl wood – Apparently the cabinets had real burl-wood veneer specked-out, but it was finished without it. Time was of the essence. The general contractor asked if we could paint the burl-wood over the existing mahogany instead. What you see is the result of that inquiry.

The darker cabinets in the kitchen did not brighter up this 1980’s kitchen. Instead, the client opted for a warm base and color wash to hide the pattern of the wood grain. A darker, metallic color was used at the very top of the cabinet to give it a more contemporary look.
The kitchen cabinets were painted white, and a soft, warm grey directional wash was applied to the inner side of doors. The goal here was to “break down” the starkness of white and create some visual interest.
